General anesthesia

General anesthesia is a medically controlled state of unconsciousness used during surgery or procedures so a patient remains asleep, pain-free, and unaware throughout the operation. It is administered by a physician anesthesiologist using intravenous medications, inhaled anesthetic gases, or a combination of both. During general anesthesia: You are completely unconscious and do not feel pain Breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels are continuously monitored Airway support may be provided using specialized breathing devices Medications are carefully adjusted to maintain comfort, safety, and stability throughout the procedure After the procedure, the anesthesia team safely guides you through recovery as the medications wear off. Modern anesthesia is highly advanced, with continuous monitoring and individualized care designed to maximize patient safety and comfort.

Regional anesthesia

Regional anesthesia is an advanced anesthesia technique that temporarily blocks pain in a specific region of the body while allowing the patient to remain awake or comfortably sedated during a procedure. By targeting specific nerves with local anesthetic medications, regional anesthesia provides effective pain control during and after surgery. Common forms of regional anesthesia include spinal anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, and peripheral nerve blocks for procedures involving the arms, legs, abdomen, or chest. Benefits of regional anesthesia may include: Excellent pain relief Reduced need for opioid medications Faster recovery for certain procedures Less nausea and grogginess compared to general anesthesia in selected patients Throughout the procedure, patients are continuously monitored by the anesthesia team to ensure safety, comfort, and optimal care.

Monitored anesthesia

Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) is a specialized anesthesia service that provides individualized sedation, pain control, and continuous monitoring during diagnostic or surgical procedures. Depending on the patient’s needs and the type of procedure, sedation levels may range from minimal relaxation to deep sedation. During MAC, patients typically breathe on their own while receiving medications to help reduce anxiety, discomfort, and pain. A physician anesthesiologist continuously monitors heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, breathing, and overall patient safety throughout the procedure. MAC is commonly used for: Endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures Ophthalmology procedures Minor surgical procedures Interventional and outpatient procedures The goal of Monitored Anesthesia Care is to provide a safe, comfortable, and personalized experience while maintaining the highest standards of vigilance and patient safety.
